Extreme Funding Problems
For the first time the Sligo Festival of Baroque Music will not have any funding from the Arts Council – due to a technical problem during the upload of the application that only became known to us in June. This means that we are €10,000 down on our original budget.
We have decided that it is too close to the time of the festival to significantly reduce the programme, that it would be unfair to both the performers who have agreed to appear and to our supporters who have already given or promised assistance. We will economise in every other way, for instance by not producing the usual full festival printed programme. The savings we can make in costs are, however, quite limited as always all management, programming and administration is done on an entirely voluntary basis.
We have already started to look for some extra financial support and have received some offers of further sponsorship (including a personal donation by one festival supporter of €1,500). We still need to find something like an extra €3,000 !
Ways that you can help:
- Become a sponsor or patron (see below) – or emulate our generous donor.
- Purchase a Festival Ticket now. The cost is €85 (€60 concessions), a saving of over €30 on buying individual concert tickets. Festival tickets are transferable and can be purchased on-line or by phone at the Hawkeswell Theatre, Sligo.
- Offer hospitality to our visiting performers.
- Or simply, become a member of Sligo Festival of Baroque Music
We will be enormously grateful for any help (further help?) you can offer, and can promise that it will all go towards the music – not the administration which is entirely voluntary.
The Sligo Festival of Baroque Music is a Registered Charity and our Charity Number is CHY 20848

In recent years the generosity of those who became Members, Patrons or Sponsors ensured that Sligo Festival of Baroque Music did not make a loss. We would ask you to consider giving support to the festival at whatever level is appropriate to you.
We need financial assistance, but it is no more important than other forms of support. Please do contact us if you can help in any way.
